As I sit here at the Magic Forest at Nationwide Children’s hospital waiting to see if heart families come down for a gathering, I am reminded that life is just not about numbers. It is about helping one person. Running a non-profit group is not easy. It takes time, energy, patience, compassion, a wiliness to give to others, a listening ear, and the offering of support. Sometimes, things don’t work out how you envision them. Sometimes, they work out better. It has been over 3 years of putting this group together, but we are finally making some headway. Today we held our first official – unofficial meeting for MLH of Columbus at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. We are hopeful to make this a monthly meeting to bring heart families together. It was so nice to meet 5 different families who are currently in the middle of their roller coaster ride of being a heart parent. I am grateful to have the opportunity to listen to their stories, make new friends, share my story, and provide coffee, bagels and hope. Thank you to Panera Bread Company for their donation today.
